Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a mid-senior level lawyer to be part of our energetic legal team and to handle a broad range of legal work, with a particular focus on product, marketing, partnerships and operations.
You will work closely with the Heads of Legal and business stakeholders to develop new products, launch new campaigns and transform legal processes.
Responsibilities
- Draft (in English and Chinese), agree with internal stakeholders and generally manage the end to end process for the development of customer terms and conditions (including using technical tools to publish terms and conditions on the bank’s website and mobile app).
- Negotiate NDAs, joint promotion agreements, supply agreements and other commercial contracts.
- Support marketing campaigns, including review of promotional and other marketing materials.
- Work with internal stakebolders and external lawyers and administer correspondence and documentation in connection with: (i) customer complaints and disputes; (ii) formal debt collection activities; (iii) bankruptcy proceedings; and (iv) various court orders and notices.
- Contribute to process improvements, including development and management of policy documentation, contract templates and guidance materials.
- Provide training and other guidance on legal and governance matters to business stakeholders.
- Generally assist the Head of Legal and Corporate Governance and other senior lawyers with effective administration of the Legal and Corporate Governance team.
Requirements
- 3 – 5 years’ post qualification experience, with at least 2 years’ gained from an international law firm in a commercial practice area.
- Qualified in Hong Kong, Australia, United Kingdom or other common law jurisdiction.
- Professional level proficiency in English and Chinese (both traditional and simplified).
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering a high standard of work every time.
- Understands business goals and risk appetites, have good commercial sense and business acumen.
- Team player, resourceful, solution-oriented and collaborative.
- Thrives in an agile/fast paced environment.
- Strong sense of responsibility and responsiveness.
- Comfortable with and can confidently navigate through ambiguity.
- Can prioritise multiple projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Curious and enthusiastic, with an interest in fintech or technology more generally.
- Experience in retail banking, regulatory practice (eg. Code of Banking Practice) and fintech, an advantage.
