Operational Risk Manager

We are looking for an Operational Risk Manager to join a collegial team of professionals to build a new banking model focused on financial inclusion and creating a digital ecosystem. The Operational Risk Manager will be instrumental in the design and implementation of a cutting-edge strategy for monitoring and managing operational risk for a new virtual bank. Strong knowledge on technical risk, retail banking products with a particular focus on digital is highly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Head of Risk to design and implement an operational risk framework (ORF) tailor to a virtual bank
  • Be the reference for facilitating and promoting the understanding of operational risk requirements
  • Lead and support the implementation of operational risk initiatives.
  • Help design and implement control measures and monitoring plans for compliance and operational risk management
  • Ensure risks and issues identified are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of operational risk processes
  • Lead and drive standardisation and automation through re-engineering and process improvement
  • Drive the implementation of the ORF and support the compliance by product lines and other stakeholders
  • Cooperate with legal, compliance and other risk owners to ensure compliance with Standard Chartered policies and regulatory requirements
  • Investigate complaints and operational/risk incidents and coordinate with relevant parties to perform root cause analysis and risk assessments
  • Devise/implement effective preventive measures
  • Record and maintain operational risks/incidents
  • Ensure risks, issues and control enhancement are identified, assessed and resolved in a and timely manner
  • Implement control processes, sampling and testing to ensure compliance with the Group control standards as well as facilitating the monitoring/collection of any key control or risk indicators
  • Record the result of control testing, report exceptions, perform residual risk assessments and ensure identified control deficiencies are mitigated with preventive measures
Requirements
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to explain theoretical concepts to team members with varying backgrounds
  • Good knowledge of technical risk, retail banking products with a particular focus on digital
  • Understanding of industry trends and developments as well as their impact on the business
  • Appetite for continuously improving and streamlining processes and the way we work
